Job summary

Ferrovial Construction is hiring a System Safety Design Engineer for the HS2 Track infrastructure project. You will join at the design phase and collaborate across core teams to ensure safety compliance, risk assessment and safety-case development.

The role requires experience in safety engineering, hazard analysis and strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. On-site collaboration and cross-discipline coordination are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in safety standards and hazard analysis techniques.
• Experience in safety engineering roles, preferably within the rail industry.
• Ability to communicate safety information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure delivery of system safety compliance, risk analysis and evaluation, and preparation of safety products under guidance of the Lead Systems Safety Engineer.
• Support Employer’s system safety team and ensure adherence to the Safety Management Plan.
• Identify hazards and assess risks across designs, developing mitigation strategies.
• Define safety requirements and ensure integration into design and development processes.
• Assist in developing safety cases to demonstrate acceptable safety for intended use.
• Support safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, PHA) to evaluate performance and issues.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware and software engineers and stakeholders to integrate safety.
• Assist with compliance, audits and incident investigations as part of safety improvement.
• Prepare regular safety reports for the Lead Systems Safety Engineer.
