Job summary

South Western Railway is seeking a Rail Operator 2 GPR (General Purpose Relief) to dispatch trains safely, keep stations clean and presentable, and provide accurate travel information to customers.

You will cover a variety of shifts across different stations, require your own transport, and be the friendly face of SWR, delivering a personal service and ensuring passenger safety at every step. A medical including vision and hearing tests is required.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified to operate a motorised vehicle and have access to your own transport.
• Able to cope with repetitive tasks under pressure.
• Great communicator with people skills.
• Safety-critical role requiring medical including vision and hearing tests.

Responsibilities

• Safely dispatch trains from the platform while ensuring customers are clear of the train.
• Provide travel information and assist passengers with luggage or boarding ramps.
• Keep customers updated on journeys through announcements and face-to-face interactions.
• Maintain station standards, assist with cleaning and safety checks as required.
