Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking Mechanical Fitters to join a leading rail engineering company in the Milton Keynes area. The role involves removal, modification, and refitting of rolling stock to high standards, following industry regulations and company procedures.

Key responsibilities include identifying mechanical interfaces, installing and repairing components, fault finding, diagnostics, and component overhaul, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical roles or a similar hands-on trade/engineering environment.
• Confident in the use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and follow technical instructions.
• Commitment to working safely and to company quality standards.
• Minimum level 2 engineering related qualification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Understand vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components.
• Install or repair components.
• Fault find and carry out diagnostic investigation work.
• Overhaul rail components.
• Undertake training as required.
• Work within a realistic timeframe.
• Dispose of waste in the correct manner.
• Adhere to written or verbal instructions.
