Job summary

DB Cargo UK in Oxfordshire is seeking a Rail Freight Supervisor to oversee train preparations, manage drivers and depot staff, and ensure safe, on-time departures. The role combines hands-on supervision with planning, rostering, and liaison with engineering teams.

You will lead a shift, enforce site rules, and participate in a 5-week training course. A manual driving license and a willingness to travel to other sites are required.

Qualifications

• Valid manual driving license.
• Live within 1-hour commute of central hub location.
• A-Levels or equivalent.
• Previous Team Leader or Supervisory role.
• Willing to train in a 5-week classroom-based course.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Drivers, Mobile Operatives and Terminal staff to ensure trains depart safely and efficiently.
• Plan site operations with Operations Manager and ensure safety compliance.
• Coordinate rostering and staffing for each shift.
• Liaise with engineering teams to report defects and ensure safety checks are completed.
• Act as PIC of the depot and enforce PPE and depot rules.
