Job summary

DB Cargo UK is seeking a Rail Freight Supervisor in Oxfordshire to oversee train preparations, depot operations, and staff management. You will coordinate drivers and operatives, ensure safety checks, and work with the Operations Manager to plan departures while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong people leadership, problem solving, and effective communication, with readiness to travel between sites as needed and to work shifts in an industrial, safety-critical

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid manual driving licence and live within a 1-hour commute.
• Previous team leader/supervisory experience required.
• Be committed to learning in a classroom-based environment through a 5-week training course.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparations of trains and day-to-day depot operations.
• Manage Drivers, Mobile Operatives and Terminal Support Workers as assigned.
• Plan site operations with the Operations Manager to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Liaise with engineering teams to report defects and ensure safe train departure.
• Act as PIC (person in charge) of the depot, enforcing rules and PPE compliance.
