Job summary

TXM Recruit is seeking a Mobile Fitter (Rail Freight) to support maintenance and repair of rail freight vehicles, carrying out mechanical and electrical work while developing engineering skills in a safety-critical environment.

You will perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, testing, and documentation at approved locations, ensuring safe, reliable operation and compliance with risk assessments and company procedures. This role suits hands-on engineers ready to work in a rail environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled maintenance at approved locations.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on locomotives and rolling stock.
• Test and assess equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Work in line with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and company procedures.
• Complete accurate maintenance documentation.
• Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and workmanship.
• Work independently or as part of a team under supervision when required.
