Job summary

TXM Recruit seeks a Mobile Fitter (Rail Freight) to support maintenance and repair of rail vehicles. You will perform mechanical and electrical work, test equipment, and follow safety-critical procedures. Documentation and safety standards are essential.

You will work at approved locations, either independently or within a team, and need an NVQ Level 3 in engineering and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Clean & inspect equipment before and after tasks.
• Carry out routine scheduled maintenance.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs to rail vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled maintenance at approved locations.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on locomotives and rolling stock.
• Test and assess equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Work in line with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and company procedures.
• Complete accurate maintenance documentation.
• Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and workmanship.
• Work independently or as part of a team under supervision when required.
