Job summary

TXM Recruit is recruiting a Heavy Haul Mechanical & Electrical Fitter to service and repair locomotives at our Leeds facility. You will perform maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on freight trains in line with maintenance plans and engineering standards.

The role requires a Level 3 certificate or apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering, with knowledge of locomotive systems and a proactive approach to safety and quality. DBS checks are part of the pre-employment process.

Qualifications

• Level 3 certificate or apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience with heavy haul/rail or locomotive maintenance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, fault-find and repair locomotives in accordance with maintenance plans and safety procedures.
• Carry out routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance for locomotive reliability.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults using diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Record maintenance activities, defects and replacements in maintenance systems and technical records.
• Ensure paperwork for examinations and repairs is completed to company standards.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards for a safe working environment.
