Job summary

Great Western Railway (GWR) seeks a Fleet Operations Controller based in Swindon to ensure the right trains are in the right place at the right time. You will manage fleet availability, co-ordinate with engineering and partners, and support maintenance planning while keeping customers and operations foremost in decisions.

The role requires 24/7 shift coverage including nights and weekends; occasional travel across the network is possible, with a focus on safe, efficient service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage allocation of GWR's fleet to deliver promised capacity and facilities for customers.
• Work with internal/external stakeholders to maximise fleet availability and daily train plan.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Hitachi to ensure fleet availability for maintenance.
• Maintain depot capacity understanding and resolve issues affecting fleet.
• Keep safety at the heart of decisions and escalate as appropriate.
• Provide clear updates on fleet position to colleagues and the business.
• Respond to changes and minimise disruption impact on customers and staff.
