Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an Engineering Delivery Manager to lead the UK Light Rail engineering portfolio. You will collaborate with European and UK teams, manage multi-project delivery, and ensure quality and timely execution across complex systems engineering activities.

You will work in a hybrid role, with two days per week at the Cheadle office and regular travel to customer sites, guiding governance, schedules, and performance across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in systems engineering management within rail or infrastructure projects, covering all aspects of the project and product lifecycle.
• Experience growing and scaling a portfolio of projects in line with business needs.
• Breadth across engineering disciplines and strong technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time delivery within scope and budget.
• Direct engineering scope in bids and business development activities.
• Develop engineering approach across the UK Light Rail portfolio for consistency and efficiency.
• Ensure high-quality standards across software and hardware development.
• Coordinate with international teams and customers for governance and delivery.
• Support growth and mentoring of the engineering team within the portfolio.
