Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 Clinical Scientist - Radiotherapy Physicist at St James's University Hospital in Leeds. The role covers treatment planning, dosimetry, imaging and QA, with opportunities in AI and radiotherapy innovation.

You will join a team delivering high-quality radiotherapy care and supporting clinical trials and staff development. The post requires HCPC registration as Clinical Scientist (or within 12 months) and a strong background in radiotherapy

Qualifications

• Good (1st or 2nd class) honours degree in a relevant subject and MSc or equivalent in radiotherapy physics
• HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or working to achieve registration within 12 months of recruitment
• Structured post-graduate training in radiotherapy physics and/or imaging (MR advantageous) e.g. IPEM/MSC STP or equivalent
• Qualifications to act as an Operator under IR(ME)R in radiotherapy
• Specialist knowledge and practical experience in radiotherapy physics
• Understanding patient progress through radiotherapy and safety requirements
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and national standards for radiotherapy
• Professional conduct, confidentiality and patient dignity
• Ability to perform radiotherapy QA and related experimental work
• Ability to communicate complex information to non-physics colleagues

Responsibilities

• Support a broad range of radiotherapy physics activities including treatment planning, dosimetry and imaging
• Provide equipment QA and staff training
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of radiotherapy staff
• Engage in research and innovation in treatment planning, AI, and imaging
• Help develop state-of-the-art radiotherapy services
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care
