Job summary

Centrica plc is seeking an experienced R&I Manager (Automation) to lead a team of researchers, deliver high-quality automation research, and own the strategy for the automation pillar. The role collaborates with Centrica's stakeholders, startups, and academia to scale digitisation across energy systems.

The position is London-centric with potential travel to Antwerp. A strong background in ML, data science, and energy tech is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing complex ML models or statistical algorithms.
• Experience with ML libraries and deployment tools.
• Strong Python programming and AI/ML method knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of research engineers.
• Ensure reliable delivery of high-quality research outputs.
• Own the Energised Futures strategy around the automation pillar.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Centrica, industry, startups and academia.
• Support the wider business to deploy outputs for impact.
• Monitor industry and academia through conferences and journals.
