Job summary

Centrica’s Energised Futures unit is hiring an experienced Research & Innovation Manager (Automation) to lead a team of researchers and own the automation strategy. This role focuses on applying data science, ML, and AI methods to scale energy digitisation and optimization.

The position involves working across London and Antwerp with travel between locations, and a strong emphasis on collaboration with academia and industry partners. A PhD or Master’s with substantial research is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing complex statistical algorithms or ML models in CS/EE/Control Systems or related field.
• Experience with ML libraries and model serving platforms; knowledge of data science methods.
• Strong Python programming with experience deploying ML models.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of research engineers.
• Ensure reliable delivery of high-quality research outputs.
• Own the Energised Futures strategy around automation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Centrica, industry, startups and academia.
• Support adoption and deployment of outputs to maximise impact.
• Engage with conferences and journals to stay connected.
