Job summary

Centrica's Energised Futures invites applications for an R&I Manager (Automation) to lead a team of research engineers and own the automation strategy in the energy domain. The role blends research excellence with practical deployment, collaborating with industry and academia to push the state of the art.

Based in London, with the Antwerp team nearby, you will drive complex projects using data science, ML, and AI, guiding the roadmap and delivering impactful outcomes for a greener energy system.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing statistical algorithms or ML models.
• Experience with Python and ML libraries (TensorFlow/PyTorch).
• Energy industry knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of research engineers.
• Ensure reliable delivery of high-quality research outputs.
• Own Energised Futures' strategy around the automation pillar.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Centrica, energy industry, startups and academia.
• Support the wider business to deploy outputs to maximise impact.
• Monitor and engage with industry and academia through conferences and journals.
