Job summary

Pure Resourcing Solutions Limited is seeking a Lead Development Engineer for an on-site role in Norfolk. You will lead a small R&D team delivering advanced, regulatory-aware projects ahead of live programmes while managing expectations with project management.

We welcome candidates from senior technical staff or those already leading teams who can step into a leadership role. Defence experience isn’t required, but understanding complex development and regulatory concepts is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical/electronic, or systems engineering.
• Broad electro‑mechanical background including mechanisms, actuation and sensing.
• Experience leading or overseeing electro‑mechanical design from concept to prototype/validation.
• People leadership and organisational skills: planning and resourcing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the department in alignment with project management.
• Line-manage electro-mechanical engineers and technicians, set priorities and standards.
• Oversee design approaches, interfaces and trade-offs; hands-on as needed.
• Lead integration across mechanisms, electronics, sensors, actuators and controls.
• Lead prototype builds, bring-up, fault-finding, and support trials/demos.
• Define verification/validation plans before testing starts.
• Maintain software oversight where it impacts integration.
• Smooth handover of mature designs to engineering and capture lessons.
