R&D Chemist: Lab Innovation & Product Development

Job summary

Elland is offering a permanent Laboratory Technician role in Leeds through E3 Recruitment. You will carry out laboratory testing, analyse results and provide technical input to R&D projects within a collaborative environment of Technical, Manufacturing, Quality and Commercial teams.

The role is hands-on, with responsibilities including preparing formulations, samples and test materials, analysing data and producing clear reports.

Qualifications

• A degree in Chemistry or a similar scientific discipline.
• Laboratory testing experience and strong experimental skills.
• The ability to analyse technical data and communicate findings clearly.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving.
• Experience within product development, chemical formulation, chemical manufacturing, ISO quality systems or Design of Experiments (DoE) would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out laboratory testing, experiments and product evaluations.
• Preparing formulations, samples and test materials.
• Analysing experimental data and producing clear technical reports.
• Supporting innovation and product development projects from concept to completion.
• Providing technical recommendations based on laboratory findings.
• Working with cross‑functional teams to support project delivery.
• Assisting with product scale-up, validation activities and process improvements.
• Supporting the continuous development of laboratory methods and procedures.
