Job summary

Pasqal in the United Kingdom is seeking a PhD-level expert in quantum error correction to advance fault-tolerant quantum computing. The ideal candidate will develop and benchmark QEC codes, create decoders, and link models to experimental data.

You will work across the hardware team, contribute to QPU architecture inputs, and document results for scientific publication. English communications and collaboration across a multinational team are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computing, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills for scientific computing (e.g., Python), including data analysis and simulation workflows.
• Interest in neutral-atom platforms and realistic hardware constraints in QEC studies.
• Experience driving small technical projects, including planning and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Select, adapt, and benchmark QEC codes and protocols under neutral-atom hardware constraints.
• Develop and evaluate decoding approaches and quantify QEC performance.
• Develop and maintain logical error models and budgets, linked to physical noise models and data.
• Contribute to design and benchmarking of fault-tolerant logical operations and gates.
• Provide QEC-driven inputs to future QPU architectures, including constraints on layout and connectivity.
• Develop and maintain QEC simulation tools and related documentation.
