Job summary

Pasqal is seeking a highly skilled researcher to join the Hardware department's Quantum Error Correction team. You will design, benchmark, and analyze quantum error-correcting codes for neutral-atom QPUs, develop decoders, and build numerical libraries for QEC simulations while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computing, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of quantum error-correcting codes, decoding methods, and fault-tolerant protocols.
• Ability to work at the interface between theory, numerical simulation, and experimental constraints.

Responsibilities

• Select, adapt, and benchmark quantum error-correcting codes and protocols under realistic hardware constraints.
• Develop and evaluate decoding approaches and quantify QEC performance under noise models.
• Develop and maintain logical error models and budgets, linking to physical noise models and data.
• Contribute to design and benchmarking of fault-tolerant logical operations and gates.
• Provide QEC-driven inputs to future QPU architectures, including layout and connectivity considerations.
• Develop and maintain QEC simulation tools consistent with internal models.
• Write reports, technical documents, and scientific articles.
• Represent the company at international conferences and workshops.
