Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Environment Division on capital maintenance works within water sector frameworks. You’ll manage commercial and financial aspects from tender to final account, with a focus on risk management and cost control.

The role requires MCIOB/MRICS or working towards, a relevant degree, CSCS, and experience with CEMAR/Oracle. You’ll lead and develop junior QS staff and contribute to robust monthly reporting.

Qualifications

• Desirable MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, or working towards full membership.
• Relevant degree and/or experience in a relevant commercial environment.
• CSCS appropriate.
• Good appreciation of standard forms of contract and experience using Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).

Responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of project delivery from tender through to final account, including producing commercial notices as required by the contract.
• Manage subcontract works packages including interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
• Support on commercial risk management, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
• Produce, and be able to present, detailed monthly reports and CVRs as required by the operating unit or project.
• Produce and maintain a detailed Cost Plan, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including schedules of subcontractor liabilities and Oracle-based analyses.
• Manage and develop junior Quantity Surveyors within the operating unit.
