Tilbury Douglas is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Infrastructure Division in Exeter. You will manage commercial aspects on water sector projects, including cost control, CVR reporting, and subcontract procurement.

You will liaise with Contracts Managers to ensure financial success and support the project team with monthly cost forecasts. You will have strong knowledge of contract forms, CIS, and be able to mentor junior staff while handling interim payments and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Must have solid understanding of construction industry and the parties to it.
• Proficient in measurement and valuation.
• Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Able to read drawings and specifications and understand construction processes.
• Able to negotiate with clients/sub-contractors and draft sub contracts.
• Knowledge of CIS.
• Able to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and forecasts.
• Team player with strong communication.
• Awareness of dispute procedures.
• Experience in risk assessments and valuation with project team.
• Experience on live projects and final accounts.
• Experience of value engineering and major subcontracts.
• Professional membership (RICS) desirable.

Responsabilités

• Provide commercial management on low to medium risk projects and their financials.
• Coordinate with Senior/Managing QS and report on cost status.
• Complete monthly CVR updates informed by robust forecasts.
• Liaise with Contracts Managers on commercial administration for financial success.
• Undertake cradle-to-grave subcontract procurement and management.
• Mentor junior staff and support their development.
• Ensure notices and submissions meet contract requirements.
• Prepare monthly Applications for Payment and negotiate interim amounts.
• Involve in dispute avoidance and resolution.
• Manage meetings as required.
• Maintain accurate internal cash flow forecasts and client reports.
• Support project operations with regular site presence.
• Lead cost control, accruals and cost allocations.
