Job summary

Gearing Recruitment Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor for water industry projects. You will manage commercial delivery from contract award through final account, ensuring financial control and coordination with project teams.

You will prepare valuations, procure subcontract packages, monitor costs and cash flow, and report on commercial performance. NEC contract experience and strong Excel skills are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, utilities, infrastructure, or engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
• Good commercial awareness and cost management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience within the water industry is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to final account.
• Prepare and agree valuations, variations, and measurements.
• Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender enquiries and negotiations.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities, and change control.
• Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and commercial reporting.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and commercial procedures.
• Mentor and support Assistant and Junior Surveyors within the commercial team.

A leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major water and wastewater projects on behalf of Essex & Suffolk Water is looking for a Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

Working across the full project lifecycle, you will take commercial responsibility for projects from tender award through to final account, ensuring successful financial delivery while supporting project teams, clients, and the wider supply chain.
