Gearing Recruitment Solutions Ltd is assisting a leading Tier 1 contractor in Scotland to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor for water and wastewater projects. You will manage commercial delivery from tender to final account, ensuring financial performance and robust cost control.

The role offers hybrid working, NEC contract exposure, and clear career progression within a long-term framework. Experience in MEICA, M&E or civil engineering is beneficial, with strong Excel skills and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Previou s experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction/utilities/engineering.
• Strong knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
• Good commercial awareness and cost management skills.
• Proficient in Excel and Office applications.
• Water industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial delivery of projects from contract award to final account.
• Prepare and agree valuations, variations, and measurements.
• Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender enquiries.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities, and change control.
• Produce monthly cost reports and commercial reporting.
• Build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and procedures.
• Mentor and support junior surveyors within the team.

A leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major water and wastewater projects on behalf of Scottish Water is looking for Senior Quantity Surveyors to join their commercial team.

Working across the full project lifecycle, you will take commercial responsibility for projects from tender award through to final account, ensuring successful financial delivery while supporting project teams, clients, and the wider supply chain.

Duties for Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Manage the commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to final account
• Prepare and agree valuations, variations, and measurements
• Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender enquiries and negotiations
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial performance
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities, and change control
• Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and commercial reporting
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams
• Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and commercial procedures
• Mentor and support Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team

Qualifications & Experience for Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, utilities, infrastructure, or engineering
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
• Good commercial awareness and cost management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
