Job summary

Melior Associates is recruiting an ambitious Quantity Surveyor for a private main contractor near Bournemouth. You will manage 2-3 Design & Build projects, driving commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

The role suits someone with 10+ years’ experience in main contracting, strong D&B track record, and a keen eye for cost control, able to mentor a junior QS and grow toward Commercial Manager.

My client is a friendly, privately owned main contractor that has been established for over 15 years. Based just outside Bournemouth, they are currently turning over around £17 million and are entering an exciting period of growth.

They are now looking to appoint an ambitious Quantity Surveyor who is looking for more than simply managing projects and final accounts — this is an opportunity to become an important part of the company's future commercial structure.

The existing Senior Surveyor is due to progress into a Commercial Manager position, with the successful candidate potentially taking responsibility for overseeing and mentoring an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. As the company continues to grow, additional members of the Commercial team will report into you, providing a genuine route into a Commercial Management position.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing 2-3 Design & Build projects simultaneously, overseeing the commercial performance from pre-construction through to completion and final account.

The role will suit a Quantity Surveyor who:

• Has 10+ years' experience working for a main contractor
• Has strong experience across Design & Build projects
• Is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Has excellent commercial and contractual awareness
• Has a keen eye for detail and strong financial control
• Is keen to take on additional responsibility and develop towards a Commercial Manager position
• Enjoys working within a close-knit, privately owned business where they can have a genuine influence
