Job summary

Symmetry Recruitment supports a dynamic construction client in Greater Manchester recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS. You will drive cost planning, budgeting and commercial reporting to keep projects profitable from inception to completion.

Ideal candidates will have strong negotiation skills, solid knowledge of contracts, and the ability to mentor junior staff. A clear pathway to senior or commercial management is available.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS in construction.
• Degree qualifications ideal but not essential.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Understanding of standard construction contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting across projects.
• Manage contracts, variations, valuations and final accounts.
• Oversee subcontract procurement, tendering and commercial negotiations.
• Act as client contact providing strategic commercial advice.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate commercial risks to protect margins.

About the Opportunity

We are supporting a dynamic and growing construction client looking for an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor / Senior to join the team. This role is ideal for a commercially sharp professional who thrives on managing diverse, high-value projects and delivering exceptional project control from inception to completion.

You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, managing client relationships and driving commercial success across a variety of exciting sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Management: Lead cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial reporting across multiple projects.
• Contract Administration: Manage contracts, handling variations, valuations, and final accounts.
• Procurement: Oversee subcontract procurement, tendering processes, and commercial negotiations.
• Client Relations: Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing strategic commercial advice and ensuring project delivery aligns with their objectives.
• Risk Management: Identify, analyse, and mitigate commercial risks to protect project margins.
