Job description

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor Apprentice to join our Lords Temporary Accommodation (LTA) Project Team on the Houses of Parliament Restoration & Renewal (R&R) Programme — the largest and most complex renovation of a UNESCO World Heritage building ever undertaken. This once-in-a-lifetime project will undertake the provision of temporary accommodation for the House of Lords to enable the Lords decant whilst the restoration work is being carried out.

This role offers a unique and exciting environment in which to begin a career in Quantity Surveying and is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience working on a complex, high‑profile project while studying towards a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification.

As a Quantity Surveyor Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced commercial and project professionals. You'll play an important role in helping manage costs, support procurement activities and contracts, together with financial reporting and commercial governance as the project progresses through design and delivery stages.

You'll gain experience across a wide range of commercial activities, including:

  • Supporting cost planning, estimating, forecasting and budget monitoring.
  • Assisting with procurement activities, tender documentation and supplier engagement.
  • Supporting contract administration, change control and commercial reporting.
  • Measuring and quantifying works from drawings, specifications and project information.
  • Contributing to risk and opportunity management activities.
  • Attending project, commercial and site meetings.
  • Producing reports, presentations and commercial documentation.
  • Working closely with project managers, consultants, contractors and suppliers.

The apprenticeship is designed to develop your skills from the ground up. We are not seeking prior experience—just enthusiasm, curiosity, and the drive to learn. You will be supported by experienced colleagues and managed by the Commercial Lead with regular training and on‑the‑job learning.

  • The Delivery Authority is an accredited Real Living Wage employer offering a starting salary £30,128 per annum
  • Time off and Flexibility

We offer 30 days holiday as standard plus public holidays, there is also an option to buy an additional five days leave in each holiday year. We operate a hybrid working pattern with a minimum of two days in the office and three from home. We encourage flexible working patterns so can accommodate a variety of working arrangements, such as compressed hours.

Many of our policies offer enhanced entitlement for example paid maternity and carers leave.

  • Recognition and Financial Rewards

We offer a competitive pension with up to 10% employer contribution, life assurance of 4 x salary, Group Income Protection, payment of professional membership fees and a discretionary bonus scheme.

In addition, we offer an electric vehicle scheme, SmartTech purchase scheme, which provides loan assistance for purchase of tech. We have a reward portal that provides retail, gym & travel discounts, alongside a reward-based recognition portal.

You can also apply for a season ticket loan or join our cycle to work scheme.

  • Health and Wellbeing

We provide financial wellbeing assistance, an employee assistance programme and online GP. To further support your wellbeing, we offer up to five days paid volunteering leave.
