Job summary

Salter Grange Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our General Works team in Bristol/Filton. You will manage commercial and contractual aspects across projects, collaborating with project teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maximise value and ensure successful delivery.

The role requires strong procurement knowledge, cost reporting, and a sound understanding of contracts. You will work independently while contributing to a wider project team and ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience working on construction projects, ideally with a main contractor.
• Knowledge of procurement and subcontract management.
• Strong cost/value reporting and forecasting understanding.
• Solid grasp of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a project team.
• Strong IT skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects from procurement to final account.
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, valuations, payments and variations.
• Prepare cost/value reconciliations, forecasts and commercial reports.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow, turnover and margin.
• Manage change, variations, claims and commercial risks.
• Support procurement strategies and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to hit commercial targets.
• Ensure contractual and commercial documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to maximise value and minimise costs.
• Support the wider commercial team and contribute to continuous improvement.

Quantity Surveyor - Bristol

A leading specialist construction and engineering business is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its General Works team in Filton, Bristol.
The company delivers complex, high-value construction, refurbishment, installation and engineering projects across some of the UK's most demanding sectors.
You will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, working closely with project and site teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maximise commercial performance and ensure successful delivery.
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with:

• Demonstrable experience working on construction projects, ideally within a main contractor environment.
• Good understanding of procurement and subcontract management.
• Strong knowledge of cost/value reporting and forecasting.
• A sound understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider project team.
• Good commercial judgement and attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
• RICS, CIOB or another relevant professional qualification/membership would be advantageous.
