Job summary

Salter Grange Limited in Bristol is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its General Works team in Filton. You will manage the commercial and contractual performance on complex projects, working with clients, subcontractors and site teams to maximise value and deliver results.

You will bring demonstrable construction-project experience, strong procurement and subcontract management knowledge, and solid cost/value reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience on construction projects, ideally main contractor.
• Procurement and subcontract management knowledge.
• Cost/value reporting and forecasting understanding.
• Knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a project team.
• Good commercial judgement and attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and contractual aspects from procurement through to final account.
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier accounts, including procurement, valuations, payments and variations.
• Prepare cost/value reconciliations, forecasts and commercial reports.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow, turnover and margin.
• Manage change, variations, claims and commercial risks.
• Support procurement strategies and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to deliver commercial targets.
• Ensure contractual and commercial documentation is maintained.

Quantity Surveyor - Bristol

A leading specialist construction and engineering business is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its General Works team in Filton, Bristol.

The company delivers complex, high-value construction, refurbishment, installation and engineering projects across some of the UK's most demanding sectors.

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects, working closely with project and site teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maximise commercial performance and ensure successful delivery.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.

• Demonstrable experience working on construction projects, ideally within a main contractor environment.
• Good understanding of procurement and subcontract management.

• A sound understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a wider project team.
• Good commercial judgement and attention to detail.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
• RICS, CIOB or another relevant professional qualification/membership would be advantageous.
