Job summary

EMPONICS LIMITED in Watford is seeking an enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor to join their painting-focused commercial team. You'll work with direct labour, manage time sheets and tendering activities, supporting refurbishment projects across public, private, residential and educational sectors.

You should bring experience with valuations, live commuting distance to Watford, and familiarity with schedules of rates, measuring costs and applying rates.

Responsibilities

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
• Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Work with Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets and direct labour incentives.
• Build strong client and supplier relations for variations and progress.
• Complete weekly site reporting with cost information (labour rates, budgets, progress, quality, safety).

Our client are expanding their commercial team out of their Watford office.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, people focused and entrepreneurial Quantity Surveyor to join their dedicated commercial and operational team, who specialise in Painting and Decorating and associated planned refurbishment works to the public, private, residential and educational sector .

Ideally they are looking for Quantity Surveyor with experience dealing and working with direct labour teams of people , time sheets etc . Any background in painting, brickwork or plastering or roofing ,or new builds in terms of QS could work for this role along with tendering ,estimating and refurbishments but dealing and working with direct teams is a big tick .

However if you have any exposure in regards to QS in painting work worth mentioning that in the CV

The main points we are looking for are bwith reference to:

o CVRs/Valuations

£69,490 inc car allowance ( 6700) plus fuel card , Profit share last year 9.33% , private health, pension, life etc

Painting background isn't essential , though do mention if you have any exposure to that

The Quantity Surveyor role:

As a Quantity Surveyor , you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite and also liaise with direct labour at the client . We can offer a variety of works including established frameworks and core contracts with prestigious clients within the public, and residential sector as well as our services covering into the retirement living, commercial and education sectors too. Specifically, you will:

• Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any commercial risks.
• Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the outset.
• Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity labour targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives where possible.
• Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed and mutual solutions are sought, always.
• Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site, ensuring it has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance expectations, budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety)

What will you bring as Quantity Surveyor?

• You will be inquisitive, organized, and honest as well as being a genuine people person who thrives when collaborating with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues. Fostering a real working together environment, whilst building valued long-term relationships.
• Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role. Experience of the commercial management of projects from tender and estimation stages through to final account.
• Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million annually.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, with a key eye for identifying business opportunities, and areas for negotiation and better gains. You will describe yourself as commercial, analytical, and accurate in your approach.
