Quantity Surveyor

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Company: Allied Access

Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent | Office-Based

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Industry: Construction / Access / Scaffolding / Infrastructure

About Us

Allied Access is a leading provider of access solutions for some of the UK’s most ambitious construction and infrastructure projects. With a reputation built on safety, quality, and innovation, we deliver scalable solutions that support the successful completion of complex builds.

We are now looking for a highly capable and detail-driven Contracts Administrator to join our growing commercial team.

The Opportunity

As a Scaffolding Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of our access and scaffolding projects. Working alongside the Commercial Manager and Project Teams, you will ensure accurate cost control, financial reporting, and risk management from tender to final account. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute individual looking to take ownership of multiple projects in a fast-paced, hands-on environment..

What You’ll Do

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Prepare detailed project cost estimates, cost plans, and tender submissions, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company margin objectives. Monitor budgets and provide early warnings on any financial risks or cost overruns.
  • Maintain accurate financial records through ongoing cost-value reconciliations (CVRs). Prepare and deliver timely cost reports, forecasts, and performance dashboards to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations with clients or main contractors. Submit interim and final applications for payment in line with contract terms, and actively manage any queries or rejections.
  • Identify, evaluate, and value changes in the scope of work, ensuring that all variations are properly recorded, substantiated, and agreed in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare final accounts in a timely and professional manner, ensuring that all outstanding commercial matters are resolved and closed out in agreement with the client.
Contractual & Risk Management
  • Ensure contracts (JCT, NEC, or bespoke) are correctly administered across all projects. Interpret contractual terms and provide advice to project teams on obligations, entitlements, and risk mitigation.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager and legal advisors on resolving commercial disputes, including the preparation of supporting documentation and negotiation of settlements.
  • Ensure that all commercial activities are compliant with internal governance, client expectations, and relevant industry legislation or frameworks (e.g., Construction Act, CIS regulations).

Stakeholder Liaison & Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with Estimators, Project Managers, Procurement, and Operations teams to align commercial strategy with project delivery.
  • Act as a key commercial interface with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure smooth communication and resolution of financial matters.
  • Support procurement by assisting in the selection and negotiation of subcontractor packages. Assess subcontractor applications and manage account administration through to final payment.

Site & Operational Support
  • Attend project sites regularly to assess progress, measure completed works, and liaise with site teams. Ensure that commercial records reflect actual site conditions.
  • Track and record all instructions and changes in real time. Liaise with site supervisors and foremen to identify early-stage impacts to programme or cost.
  • Maintain structured and auditable commercial records, including change logs, contract correspondence, and supporting documents for all valuations and claims.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
