Job summary

Structivus Ltd. is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a project in Oxford with a wider Midlands South pipeline. The role involves managing commercial aspects from procurement through to final account and working away from home when required.

The ideal candidate will have main contracting/design-and-build experience, plus skills in budgeting, forecasts, subcontract procurement, and contract negotiations. Travel and accommodation are provided when working away.

Quantity Surveyor

Location: Oxford initially, with projects across the Midlands and further South (working away Monday to Friday will be required)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + package

We are working with an established 360 design-and-build main contractor that delivers projects from initial design and planning through to construction and completion.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team.

The role will initially be based on a project in Oxford, with upcoming projects expected to be located across the Midlands and further South. Therefore, this position would suit someone who is comfortable with working away from home when required.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, working closely with the project management, design and site teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the commercial aspects of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion
• Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and cost reports
• Procurement and management of subcontract packages
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor quotations
• Managing valuations, variations, payments and final accounts
• Monitoring project costs and identifying potential commercial risks
• Managing subcontractor accounts and maintaining strong commercial relationships
• Supporting tendering and estimating activities where required
• Working closely with project managers, contracts managers and the design team
• Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed budgets and commercial targets
• Providing accurate commercial reporting to senior management

About You

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor with experience working for a main contractor, ideally within a design-and-build environment.

You may be an established Quantity Surveyor looking for your next challenge, or a strong Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.

You'll ideally have experience across areas such as:

• Main contracting / construction
• Design & build projects
• Subcontract procurement and management
• Cost control and forecasting
• Valuations and variations
• Final accounts
• Commercial reporting
• NEC, JCT or similar forms of contract

Location & Travel

The role will initially be based in Oxford, with a new project pipeline developing in the Midlands and further South.

Because of the geographical spread of upcoming projects, you must be comfortable with working away from home when required.

Travel and accommodation will be provided as part of the package when working away, so you will be fully supported while working on projects outside your usual area.
