Job summary

NY Highways is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our North Yorkshire team. You will manage costs, forecast profitability and provide commercial support across highway projects, working closely with project managers, NEC colleagues, clients and key stakeholders.

You'll be responsible for cost forecasting, budget management and monitoring cash flow, with a focus on delivering projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Quantity Surveying experience, ideally highways/civil infrastructure.
• Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CIOB or ICES, or willingness to work towards.
• CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Cost forecasting and budget management throughout project lifecycle.
• Reviewing contract programmes and risk registers.
• Monitoring project profitability and cash flow; producing cost/value/budget comparisons.
• Building strong relationships with clients and project teams; collaborating with Project Managers and NEC colleagues.

The Opportunity

As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for managing costs, forecasting profitability and providing commercial support throughout the lifecycle of highway projects.

You'll work closely with Project Managers, NEC colleagues, clients, designers and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely and successfully.

Key responsibilities include:

• Cost forecasting and budget management
• Reviewing contract programmes and risk registers
• Monitoring project profitability and cash flow
• Producing cost, value and budget comparisons
• Building effective relationships with clients and project teams

This role offers flexibility to work from any NY Highways depot office across the county, with regular travel to Northallerton and project sites throughout North Yorkshire.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially minded professional who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and delivering results.

You'll ideally have:

• An HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Quantity Surveying experience, ideally within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure
• Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a professional body such as RICS, CIOB or ICES
• A CSCS card, or willingness to obtain one
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong working relationships
• A commitment to health and safety, quality, environmental standards and continuous improvement
