Job summary

Matchtech seeks a Highway Quantity Surveyor on a contract basis to join a leading highways contractor. The role is office-based and covers commercial management from inception to final account.

You will price and administer NEC contracts, prepare valuations and payments, manage compensation events, and work with project teams to deliver technically sound and commercially successful highways projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in highways
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts
• Experience managing commercial aspects of civil/highways projects
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

Our client, an established leader in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Highway Quantity Surveyor (QS) on a contract basis to join their team. This office-based role requires a dedicated professional to manage the commercial aspects of highways projects from inception through to final account.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing project costs and budgets throughout the project lifecycle
• Administering and managing NEC contracts
• Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor packages
• Producing valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
• Identifying, pricing, and managing compensation events and variations
• Monitoring project performance and reporting on commercial progress
• Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams

Job Requirements:

To be considered for this Highways Quantity Surveyor position, you will have:

• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the highways sector
• Strong working knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (essential)
• Experience managing the commercial aspects of civil engineering or highways projects
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• A full UK driving licence
