Job summary

MTR Partnership is seeking a proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in the North West of England. The role is primarily office-based with site visits, focusing on main contracts and JCT frameworks.

You will work closely with operations and technical teams to deliver accurate cost reporting, valuations and final accounts, while managing subcontractor procurement and ensuring project profitability.

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on designated projects, ensuring sound financial performance.
• Prepare accurate monthly cost reports and valuations, including variations and forecast final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor appointments, procurement, valuations, payment notices and final accounts.
• Collaborate with Contracts Management to monitor costs, maintain quality and health and safety standards.
• Liaise with clients and design teams to support project success.

Job description

The Company:

We are working with a well-established, family-owned building contractor. They specialise in public sector works undertaking education, health & commercial projects from £200k - £2m. They workload is varied and whilst primarily refurbishments they are now securing new build schemes at higher values for key local clients.

They are big believers on progression from within, they routinely employ apprentices and have a base of directly employed, capable trades & labour.

The company holds exciting further expansion plans which will lead to on-going progression and development opportunities.

The Role:

They are now in a position to add to their Commercial team; they have secured a number of schemes across Merseyside & Lancashire, again for public sector bodies.

Reporting in to an experienced Commercial Director you will work closely with the operations and technical teams to help reach a successful commercial outcome on the projects.

General responsibilities will include the following;

• Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes,
• Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities,
• Preparation of accurate and detailed monthly cost reports for review with the Commercial Manager,
• Good working knowledge of and application of Main Contract and Sub-Contract Forms and Standard Method of Measurement,
• Preparing and agreeing Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecast final account,
• Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts,
• To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures,
  Maintain a close working relationship with the client and design team to assist in the success of the project and
• Liaise with Contracts Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.

You:

• Ideally, they would like to recruit a Quantity Surveyor who has worked for a main contractor on JCT contracts.
  You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily - this will primarily be an office based role with site visits.
• You will be IT literate.
• Very contractually aware with good knowledge of Construction Contracts.
