Job summary

Millbank Holdings is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project in a civil engineering environment. You will be involved in cost reporting, valuations, subcontract management, compensation events and final accounts, supporting delivery from procurement to completion.

Working within an experienced commercial team, you will manage cost reporting, ensure contractual compliance and contribute to risk management.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (HND/degree).
• Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Understanding NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
• Experience administering subcontract accounts and managing commercial documentation.
• Ability to support cost reporting, forecasting and change management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost/value reports and commercial reporting requirements.
• Produce valuations and applications for payment with supporting documentation.
• Prepare client cost reports in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts from procurement through to final account agreement.
• Prepare and manage early warning notices and associated commercial registers.
• Identify, prepare and substantiate compensation events, variations and extension of time claims.
• Support the identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
• Participate in value engineering activities to improve project outcomes.
• Maintain robust site records to support commercial claims and cost substantiation.
• Assist with earned value reporting and project outturn cost forecasting.
• Support the preparation and agreement of project final accounts.
• Review commercial correspondence and account information, responding appropriately.
• Support senior commercial staff during negotiations and client interactions.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required.
• Contribute to the ongoing commercial success of the project.

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project supporting the delivery of complex civil engineering works. Due to ongoing project requirements and a growing workload, the commercial team is seeking an ambitious professional to help drive commercial performance and support the successful delivery of nationally significant projects.

Working within an experienced project team, you will be involved in a broad range of commercial activities including cost reporting, valuations, subcontract management, compensation events and final accounts. This role offers excellent exposure to large-scale engineering projects and provides a strong platform for career development within a highly collaborative environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Prepare cost/value reports and commercial reporting requirements.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

• HND or Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects.
• Understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
• Experience administering subcontract accounts and managing commercial documentation.
• Ability to support cost reporting, forecasting and change management activities.
• Strong understanding of contractual obligations and subcontract terms.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

It's great if you also have the following

• Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards professional accreditation.
• Experience on large-scale infrastructure, transportation, utilities or energy projects.
• Knowledge of earned value management techniques.
• Experience preparing compensation events and extension of time submissions.
• Previous exposure to complex subcontract procurement and administration.
• Experience mentoring junior commercial professionals.

The setting for the role

This role is based within a major infrastructure and civil engineering project environment, working as part of an established commercial team. You will collaborate closely with project delivery teams, clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders, supporting the successful commercial management of project activities from procurement through to final account while contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of project objectives.
