Job summary

Davis Mills is seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor on a permanent or freelance basis for our London-area projects. You will handle pre and post contract commercial duties on schemes ranging from £5m to £20m, working largely from office and coordinating with site teams.

The role demands a strong background in main or sub-contracting with experience in residential or commercial refurbishments, good communication, and solid commercial and technical skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with main or sub-contracting in construction projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and budgeting capability.
• Background in residential or commercial refurbishments / new builds is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Procure sub-contracts for all project packages.
• Manage subcontract accounts and financials.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with subcontractors.
• Produce monthly valuations of works performed.
• Assist in profit planning and forecasting.
• Identify and value variations to contracts.
• Notify and manage project claims where needed.
• Prepare detailed monthly cost/value reporting.
• Assist in final account settlements.

We are using all the avenues we have at our disposal to resource an experienced Quantity Surveyor. We represent a main contractor who offers a first class building service to both the private and public funded sectors. The company enjoys a gilded history with an impressive array of past schemes that form its portfolio of new build, restoration, refurbishments and fit out projects.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be involved on schemes from £5m - £20m in value, office based will undertake both pre and post contract commercial duties.

Responsibilities

• Sub-contract procurement for all project packages
• Management of subcontract accounts.
• Negotiation of sub-contract terms and conditions.
• Monthly valuations
• Profit planning.
• Identification and valuation of variations.
• Claims notification and generation.

Background of the Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor will have a background and be extremely competent at bringing in a project to commercial budgets.

• Main or sub contracting background
• Some experience of residential or commercial refurbishments / new builds
