Job summary

Yorkshire, a well-established construction company based in York, seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to own the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through final delivery. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will drive financial performance, cost control and value across high-profile schemes.

You will manage budgets, valuations and forecasts while liaising with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to maximise profitability and ensure project success

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Strong commercial awareness with cost control and financial management.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of commercial management and financial performance of multiple projects.
• Lead pre-construction through final delivery with effective cost control and reporting.

Our client is a well-established construction company based in York, delivering complex and varied projects across the commercial, retail, heritage and education sectors. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final delivery.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving project success, ensuring strong financial control and adding value across a range of high-profile schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working collaboratively within a high-performing team environment.

Quantity Surveyor - Position Remuneration

• Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and birthday off

Quantity Surveyor - Position Overview

• Take ownership of the commercial management and financial performance of multiple construction projects
• Manage projects from pre-construction stages through to completion and final account
• Act as the commercial lead, ensuring effective cost control, reporting and financial governance
• Work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and external clients to support successful project delivery

Quantity Surveyor - Position Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
• Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience acting as a commercial lead is essential
• Degree-qualified with a minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, or non-degree qualified with at least 7 years' relevant experience
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent understanding of cost control and project financial management
• Highly organised with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and internal teams
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to regional travel requirements
