The business delivers both building and infrastructure projects, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in either sector who is looking to further develop their technical expertise and broaden their project experience.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, take responsibility for key aspects of cost management and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from inception through to completion. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, professional development and career progression, this role offers an excellent platform for your next career move.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying client requirements and preparing initial cost plans and estimates.
  • Prepare cost plans, undertake value engineering and provide cost advice throughout the relevant RIBA design stages.
  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies and provide recommendations to clients.
  • Prepare tender and contract documentation, including Bills of Quantities.
  • Manage tender processes, evaluate submissions and assist in making recommendations to clients.
  • Monitor project expenditure, manage budgets and prepare regular cost reports.
  • Identify commercial risks, assess their financial implications and manage variations and change control.
  • Undertake valuations of completed works and administer payments in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation and assessment of claims, contractual notices and supporting project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate cost records, variation schedules and risk registers.
  • Support the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors and wider project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with senior colleagues while taking ownership of day-to-day commercial responsibilities.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy, contractor or similar environment.
  • Experience across either building projects, such as residential, commercial, healthcare, education and hospitality, or infrastructure projects, such as rail, highways, civils, aviation, water, energy, nuclear and defence.
  • A sound understanding of cost planning, procurement, contract administration and project cost control.
  • Experience monitoring project costs, managing variations and supporting final account negotiations.
  • Knowledge of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) processes and commercial reporting.
  • An understanding of construction contracts, with NEC experience particularly beneficial for infrastructure projects.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with clients and project stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A commitment to professional development, with a desire to progress your career and expand your technical knowledge.

  • Hybrid working arrangements.
  • Competitive benefits package.
  • Exposure to a diverse portfolio of building and infrastructure projects.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced industry professionals.
  • Ongoing training, professional development and clear opportunities for career progression.
  • The chance to develop your expertise within a globally recognised construction consultancy.
