Job summary

Nicholas Associates are recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the Project Quantity Surveyor and the senior commercial team on live construction projects in the UK. You will help with cost control, measurement, and procurement planning.

You will gain exposure to JCT and NEC contracts while developing tendering and reporting skills, with training provided where needed and potential for career progression within the group.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven experience of construction.
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling software.

• Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Knowledge of building and construction techniques.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior commercial team.
• Measure, price, negotiate and agree costs for variations to project scope.
• Produce and maintain up to date procurement schedules.
• Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and site agents regarding price, proven history, availability etc.
• Compile sub-contract orders for approval.
• Produce and process formal sub-contract documents and certify interim/final payments and final subcontract account.
• Attend and contribute to fortnightly Project Review Meetings.
• Assist in the measurement/remeasurement of work sections.
• Measurement and recording of works completed on site for valuation purposes.

Job description

Working with the Project Quantity Surveyor, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for supporting the QS in all quantity surveying services. The Assistant QS will assist in the financial management and control of every aspect of the project to maximise commercial results. Excellent opportunities for career progression.
