Job summary

Nicholas Associates Group Limited is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for our residential groundwork division to protect commercial/contractual interests and ensure projects meet commitments.

You will work with project delivery teams across sites, manage payments, forecasts, cost controls, and client relationships to support successful contract delivery.

Qualifications

  • Hold previous surveying experience at a similar level.
  • Hold a full valid UK driving licence.
  • Be willing to commute to sites across the regions operational area.
  • Have industry knowledge within construction/house building/groundwork's.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication across all business levels.
  • Build long-term external relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Complete prompt monthly applications for payment.
  • Monitor project costs and prepare cost reconciliations in line with valuations.
  • Provide quotations to clients for variations that are commercially agreed.
  • Manage client accounts ensuring payment shortfalls are highlighted and dealt with.
  • Complete monthly forecasts with the production team for commercial performance.
  • Procure subcontractor and supplier packages and manage subcontractor accounts.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
  • Mentor and support Trainee/Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
  • Ensure project teams have latest drawings and tender allowances.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality and contractual compliance.
  • Maintain organised project records.

Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a successful residential groundwork's business. The overall purpose of the role is to work closely with the project delivery teams to protect the commercial and contractual interests of the business, ensuring contracts are delivered in line with their commitments.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Complete prompt monthly applications for payment.
  • Monitor project costs and prepare cost reconciliations in line with valuations.
  • Provide quotations to clients for variations, ensuring that only those that are commercially agreed are completed by the production team.
  • Manage client accounts ensuring that any payment shortfalls are highlighted and dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Complete monthly forecasts with the production team ensuring the successful commercial performance of a project are monitored and maintained throughout the duration of the contract.
  • Procure subcontractor and supplier packages, negotiate packages, and manage subcontractor accounts.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
  • Mentor and support Trainee and Assistant Quantity Surveyors or team members as required.
  • Ensure each project team has all of the latest information including drawings and details of tender allowances.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality and compliance with contractual requirements.

The Successful Applicant will:
