Job summary

Nicholas Associates is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join a successful residential groundwork's business. The role works with project delivery teams to protect commercial interests and ensure contracts are delivered in line with commitments.

Key duties include monthly payment applications, cost monitoring and reconciliations, variations quotations, client account management, forecasts, subcontractor procurement, and maintaining robust client relationships.

Qualifications

• Previous surveying experience at a similar level.
• Full valid UK driving licence.
• Willingness to commute to sites across the regions.
• Industry knowledge in construction/house building/groundworks.
• Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent communication across all business levels.
• Build long-term external relationships.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly applications for payment promptly.
• Monitor project costs and prepare cost reconciliations.
• Provide quotations for variations, ensuring only commercially agreed are completed.
• Manage client accounts and address payment shortfalls promptly.
• Forecast with production team to monitor contract performance.
• Procure and manage subcontractor and supplier packages.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Mentor Trainee and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
• Ensure teams have latest drawings and tender allowances.
• Collaborate to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality and compliance.
• Maintain organised project records.

Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a successful residential groundwork's business. The overall purpose of the role is to work closely with the project delivery teams to protect the commercial and contractual interests of the business, ensuring contracts are delivered in line with their commitments.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Complete prompt monthly applications for payment.
• Monitor project costs and prepare cost reconciliations in line with valuations.
• Provide quotations to clients for variations, ensuring that only those that are commercially agreed are completed by the production team.
• Manage client accounts ensuring that any payment shortfalls are highlighted and dealt with in a timely manner.
• Complete monthly forecasts with the production team ensuring the successful commercial performance of a project are monitored and maintained throughout the duration of the contract.
• Procure subcontractor and supplier packages, negotiate packages, and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
• Mentor and support Trainee and Assistant Quantity Surveyors or team members as required.
• Ensure each project team has all of the latest information including drawings and details of tender allowances.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality and compliance with contractual requirements.

• Maintain organised project records, including contracts, invoices, quality assurance and correspondence.

The Successful Applicant will:

• Hold previous surveying experience at a similar level.
• Hold a full valid UK driving licence.
• Be willing to commute to sites across the regions operational area.
• Have industry knowledge within construction/house building/groundwork's.
• Ability to multi-task to department needs, plan and prioritise and shift priorities quickly in a fast-moving environment.
• Have excellent communication across all business levels.
• Build long-term external relationships.
