Job Description:

We have a great role for a Quality Technologist to join a leading footwear brand.

Job purpose:

To set and deliver quality standards for all client’s products. Ensure all technologies and design of the shoes are regularly reviewed and updated. Key stakeholder in the critical path of new developments.

Product:

  • Support the Product Team by assessing designs for manufacturability, production, and material properties, offering economic and efficient solutions to achieve cost targets.
  • Manage the technical fit and sample process in line with the critical path, ensuring consistent standards and commercial viability.
  • Design proto ideas developed into samples which are engineered to meet the client’s comfort standards.
  • In conjunction with stakeholders, ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes and technical specifications are agreed upon in line with the critical path.
  • Ensure the UK factory production processes are optimized to maximize plant efficiencies.
  • Ensure that external suppliers adhere to client standards for fit, pattern engineering, and technology.
  • Create positive working relationships with all suppliers, ensuring quality and fit are to specification.
  • Offer technical solutions to the team, considering building to cost and manufacturing constraints.
  • Lead the onboarding of offshore teams ensuring quality and ethical standards are met.
  • Responsible for the sign-off of confirmation samples to technical specifications.

Technology:

Future-proof the brand by ensuring they are ahead or on the curve of latest technology and applying it to seasonal reviews.

Work with the Head of Buying to develop a new kit strategy and critical path.

Quality:

  • Maintain a record of factory audits (e.g., Sedex) for all factories.
  • Ensure traceability throughout the supplier chain.
  • Implement quality management processes for international suppliers, ensuring quality and ethical standards are adhered to, with full traceability of all components.
  • Analyze returns data and feedback on issues found.
  • Ensure traceability of external testing required by suppliers.
  • Ensure data flow from returned products due to quality and fit issues is acted upon and informs future technical specifications.
