Job description

Do you have experience working as a Quality Matron? We are looking for a Quality Matron who will support and lead the onboarding of new services, including two care homes with Registered Nurses, and ensure the delivery of high-quality care to residents. You will also provide direct patient care as required.

What will you be doing
  1. Collaborate with Local Authorities, providing leadership, education, development, quality improvement, and management of nursing teams within the care homes.
  2. Support quality improvement initiatives and implement the internal accreditation program.
  3. Conduct initial assessments of current services, work with local authorities and ensure compliance with CQC regulations. Identify service gaps, develop improvement plans, investigate complaints and quality concerns, and ensure adult safeguarding policies align with PC24 and Local Authority requirements. Establish robust incident reporting and management systems, including escalation and feedback.
  4. Prioritize team workload, oversee staffing to meet safe staffing guidelines across units, and ensure Safety Huddles are conducted. Manage people-related matters for direct reports, including absence, performance, objectives, and training.
  5. Train and educate staff on quality and patient safety, focusing on early recognition of deterioration and escalation pathways. Stay updated on policies, support Operational Managers with KPIs related to patient experience, safety, and care effectiveness, and provide guidance to families, carers, and the wider MDT.
  6. Review admission criteria and staffing resources based on patient dependency assessments.
  7. Support Nurse Recruitment to maintain safe staffing levels.
What do I need
  • Registered nurse with a valid PIN (1st level)
  • Degree or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Evidence of CPD or further education
  • Experience in elderly care, community settings, or with Local Authorities
  • Extensive experience in community bedded care homes or Intermediate Care Beds
