Recruitment Solutions is pleased to be partnering with our Client to appoint a Quality Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to take ownership of the Quality Management System (QMS) within an established manufacturing business based in Oldham.
The successful Quality Manager will take a hands-on approach to the day-to-day running of the quality function, while also looking at the bigger picture to improve processes, reduce defects and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement and Supply Chain, the Quality Manager will be responsible for maintaining quality standards, managing customer and supplier quality issues, leading audits and ensuring products meet customer, statutory and regulatory requirements.
This role will suit a Quality Manager who enjoys being involved on the shop floor, solving problems and working with teams across the business to make lasting improvements.
You will have substantial experience working within a manufacturing quality environment, with a proven track record of managing and improving a Quality Management System.
As Quality Manager, you will take responsibility for quality assurance, quality control, customer quality, supplier quality and internal auditing. You will ensure that incoming materials, work in progress and finished products meet the required specifications, while monitoring quality performance and identifying areas for improvement.
You will be confident investigating non-conformances, managing customer complaints and leading root-cause analysis using techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone and 8D. You will also ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively and followed through to completion.
Experience of internal and external audits, ISO 9001 and maintaining quality documentation will be important. Knowledge of other manufacturing standards, such as IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485 or ISO 14001, would also be beneficial.
You will work closely with Production and Engineering to reduce scrap, rework and defects, improve supplier performance and ensure quality requirements are built into manufacturing processes from the outset. Knowledge of continuous improvement methods, including Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or 5S, would be an advantage.
As Quality Manager, you will also lead and develop the Quality team, setting clear objectives, providing guidance and encouraging quality ownership throughout the organisation.
We are looking for someone who is organised, analytical and confident making decisions. You will be comfortable working at both a strategic and shop-floor level, able to challenge when quality standards are at risk and committed to finding long-term solutions rather than quick fixes.
A relevant qualification in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline is desirable, although significant relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered. A Lead Auditor qualification, CQI membership or experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC would be advantageous.
