Job summary

Travail Employment Group is seeking a Quality Manager for a well‑established engineering site in Gillingham, Kent. The role reports to the Factory Manager and involves standing alone with inspectors and shop floor staff to manage and maintain quality systems and processes.

The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, conduct audits, develop procedures, and ensure calibration and compliance across manufacturing and packaging.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a QA/quality engineering role within manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency with quality control tools and MS Office.
  • Root cause analysis expertise.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to lead others.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining quality procedures.
  • Driving continuous improvement strategies.
  • Conducting audits to ensure compliance.
  • Goods‑In inspection.
  • Liaising with the sales team to resolve customer issues.
  • Implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintaining accurate quality records.
  • Ensuring calibration of quality control equipment.
  • Carrying out internal audits, ensuring procedures meet both internal and external standards.
  • Reviewing and approving documentation related to manufacturing and packaging (SOPs and RAs).
  • Ongoing development of the QMS in line with the continuous improvement programme.
  • Working closely with other departments to drive a quality and continuous improvement culture.
  • Leading and supporting customer and regulatory audits (including BS audits).

Quality Manager

Salary up to £42,000 per annum – based in Gillingham, Kent. Permanent, days role working Monday to Friday with an early finish on Friday. Benefits include 33 days holiday, pension, onsite parking and an employee welfare scheme.

Our client is a successful and well‑established engineering company seeking a Quality Manager to join their Gillingham site in Kent. Reporting to the Factory Manager, the role is stand‑alone and involves working with inspectors and shop floor staff to manage and maintain the quality systems and processes.
