Job description

Quality Lead

Salary: £36,000

Location: Keighley, West Yorkshire

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 37 hours per week

We are recruiting a Quality Lead for a well-established manufacturing business in Keighley.

This is predominantly a Quality-focused position, with approximately 72% of the role centred around Quality, alongside responsibility for Health & Safety and Environmental systems. It would suit an experienced Quality Engineer, Senior Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality professional with previous management responsibility who enjoys working within a smaller manufacturing environment.

What this role offers
  • Four-day working week, Monday to Thursday
  • Direct reporting line into the CEO
  • Established quality systems that require managing and developing rather than rebuilding
  • Opportunity to support future manufacturing improvements and changes across the site
  • 5% employer pension contribution
The company

The company has undergone a significant turnaround in recent years and is now growing and diversifying into a number of markets.

They have a well-equipped manufacturing facility and further changes and improvements are planned across the factory.

The role

As Quality Lead, you will take ownership of the site's Quality Management Systems and oversee the quality function.

Quality is very much the priority. Health & Safety experience would be beneficial, although external H&S support can be utilised, meaning someone with a strong Quality background should not be put off if H&S is not their strongest area.

Key responsibilities will include
  • Maintaining and improving ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems
  • Managing internal audits and supporting external approvals
  • Coordinating PPAP and PFMEA activities
  • Managing non-conformances, 8D investigations and corrective actions
  • Supporting customer complaints and supplier quality issues
  • Developing SPC and process capability techniques
  • Supporting inspection and measurement activities when required
  • Working with Operations to develop and monitor quality KPIs
  • Managing and supporting the existing Quality team
  • Coordinating Health & Safety and Environmental requirements
Requirements
  • Quality Assurance experience within an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience managing, supervising or mentoring people
  • Knowledge of PPAP and PFMEA
  • Experience with 8D, NCRs and corrective actions
  • Internal auditing experience
  • Understanding of SPC and process capability
  • A practical manufacturing or engineering background
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with senior management, customers and suppliers

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of a Quality function within a smaller manufacturing business while benefiting from a four-day working week.
