Job summary

Owen Daniels in Derby is seeking a Quality Inspector for a permanent role. The job covers quality and inspection support across aerospace-grade components, maintaining tight control during manufacturing and driving Right First-Time outcomes.

You will perform First Article inspection, non-conformances, and root cause analysis while helping standardise tooling and sustain the quality management system. The role involves working 6am-6pm Friday to Sunday with a 40% shift allowance, equating to a

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting components in a highly regulated industry.
• Proficient with dimensional measurement tools (verniers, micrometres, bore micrometers, height gauges, DTI).

Responsibilities

• Provide quality and inspection support for existing and new business opportunities.
• Maintain quality control within manufacturing processes to meet standards and customer requirements.
• Check and verify component compliance at all stages of production.
• Perform first article inspection procedures and non-conformance handling.
• Identify recurring quality issues and report to Chief Inspector.
• Assist in 5Y quality procedures and root cause analysis of product failures.
• Standardise jigs, fixtures and tooling where possible.
• Support, maintain and improve the Quality Management System and conduct internal audits.

Job Description

• To provide Quality and Inspection support for both existing and new business opportunities and to develop the Right First-Time philosophy required to become a leading supplier of quality components to the aerospace industry
• Maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements
• Check and verify the compliance of components produced at all stages within business
• First article inspection procedures & Non-conformance procedures
• Identify reoccurring quality issues and communicate them to the chief inspector
• Assist in the 5Y quality procedure and produce root cause analysis of product failures
• Incorporate standardisation of jigs, fixtures and tooling wherever possible
• To support, develop, maintain and improve the company's quality management system and conduct internal audits against the system
• To conduct root cause analyses, SPC and other appropriate quality tools and techniques to ensure that the manufacturing processes meet customer requirements

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

• Well-versed inspecting a range of components/parts using dimensional measurement tools (verniers, micrometres, bore micrometers, height gauges, DTI (Digital Test Indicators) etc
• Experienced inspecting parts within a highly regulated industry.
