Job summary

Holt Engineering in Downton (Wiltshire) is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our established engineering and manufacturing team. The role focuses on inspection of finished products, components, and subcontracted processes to uphold quality standards.

You will generate FAIRs to AS9102, support NCR and root-cause actions, and work with production and quality teams to resolve issues. Strong attention to detail and a background in aerospace or precision manufacturing are desirable.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in engineering/manufacturing quality inspection.
• Experience in aerospace or highly regulated industries preferred.
• Familiar with FAIRs/AS9102 beneficial.
• Attention to detail with analytical problem solving.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel).
• Knowledge of NDT/FPI desirable.
• Strong communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Inspect finished products, purchased components and sub‑contracted processes to ensure quality standards.
• Perform dimensional and visual inspections of components and assemblies.
• Generate/review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to AS9102.
• Support NCR processes and root cause investigations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
• Assist in approved operator audits and coordinate with production teams.
• Pursue training to become Product Release Delegate (DSQR).

Quality Inspector

Location: Downton, Wiltshire

Salary: £19ph - £21ph

Hours: Monday-Friday

Job Type: Full-time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Inspector to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Downton.

The role would suit someone with a strong background in quality inspection, ideally within aerospace or precision engineering, who is confident working to detailed drawings and quality standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for inspecting finished products, purchased components and subcontracted processes, ensuring everything meets the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out dimensional and visual inspection of fabricated components and assemblies.
• Generating and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to AS9102.
• Supporting NCR, root cause and corrective action activities.
• Contributing to continuous improvement across the business.
• Supporting and participating in approved operator audits.
• Working closely with production and quality teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Undertaking training to become proficient as a Product Release Delegate (DSQR).

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 5 years' experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in inspection or quality, ideally within aerospace or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience with FAIRs / AS9102 would be highly beneficial.
• Good attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem solving.
• Competence using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Knowledge or experience of NDT/FPI would be an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different teams.
