Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Quality Inspector for a Derby-based, 3-month contract with day shift in aerospace manufacturing. The role involves first-off and receipt inspection, calibration, and running CMM programmes to support operations.

You'll work with engineering on NPI, read manufacturing instructions, and use verniers, calipers and micrometers to verify tolerances in precision metal components.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting high-precision metal components to tight tolerances.
• Background in regulated industries (aerospace, automotive, nuclear, etc.).
• Proficiency with verniers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off and receipt inspection and calibration as required.
• Run CMM programs, analyse results and make quality decisions.
• Support non-conformance process and raise rejects with containment.
• Collaborate with Engineering for smooth NPI transitions.
• Review manufacturing instructions before operations.

Job Description

• To carry out 1st off Inspection / Receipt Inspection / Inspection and Calibration activities as required to support operations.
• Running CMM programmes; analysing and recording results and making quality decisions.
• To support the internal non-conformance process; raising rejects and ensuring all containment is captured.
• To liaise closely with Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of new products – New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, this includes Machine and Tooling Set Up Packs as required, Engineering Drawings, Data Cards, Inspection Plans.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

• Well-versed inspecting a range of metal high precision components/parts, to tight tolerances
• Experience working within a highly regulated environment/industry (aerospace, automotive, nuclear, oil & gas, rail)
• Confident using dimensional measurement tools such as verniers/callipers, gauges, micrometres
• Positive attitude, with an open mind to learning new skills
