Job summary

DR Newitt Engineering & Manufacturing in Hillington, Glasgow, is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to ensure engineered products meet customer specifications. You will perform in-process and final inspections and contribute to QHSE compliance in a specialist manufacturing environment.

The role offers a 37-hour week, with overtime, and a benefits package including a 7% pension, sickness and death in service schemes, and weekly payroll, in a highly regulated market.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection or engineering.
• Strong experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of engineering tolerances, fits and clearances.
• A methodical and detail-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• In-process and final inspection.
• Using precision measuring equipment including micrometers and verniers.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Checking fits, clearances and tolerances.
• Producing inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Working closely with production and QHSE teams.
• Supporting compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Assisting with wider quality activities when required.

DR Newitt Engineering & Manufacturing are working with an established specialist engineering business in Hillington, Glasgow, who are looking to appoint an experienced Quality Inspector.

This is an opportunity to join a skilled manufacturing environment where you'll play an important role in maintaining quality standards across a range of engineered products supplied into demanding Oil & Gas, Subsea, Defence and Industrial markets.

You'll have the opportunity to use your existing engineering knowledge in a quality-focused position, while working alongside experienced manufacturing and QHSE professionals.

The Role

Reporting to the QHSE Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet the required quality standards and customer specifications.

You'll be involved in:

What are we looking for?

We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who understands the importance of getting things right first time.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience within quality inspection or engineering
• Strong experience using precision measuring equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
• Good understanding of engineering tolerances, fits and clearances
• Experience producing inspection reports
• A methodical and detail-focused approach
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Your background

Previous shop-floor engineering experience would be highly advantageous.

In particular, candidates with a background as a Time-Served Turner, Miller or Machinist who have moved into quality/inspection are encouraged to apply.

A Forklift Licence would also be advantageous.
