Job description

Quality Inspector / Quality Technician

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: Days – 38.5 hours per week

Early finish Friday – 1:00pm

33 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

5% employer pension contribution

We are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector / Quality Technician to join our manufacturing team.

This is a hands‑on role within an engineering and manufacturing environment, suited to someone who has a strong eye for detail, understands the importance of quality throughout the production process and is confident making decisions based on engineering drawings, measurements and inspection requirements.

You will work closely with the production team to ensure products meet the required standards and specifications, supporting an effective quality-to-production handover and identifying issues before they become larger problems.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and managing their own workload. While you will receive a thorough induction and support during your integration into the business, we are looking for someone who can use their previous experience and knowledge to plan, prioritise and drive their own work without requiring constant supervision.

The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Inspecting manufactured components and products throughout the production process.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering 2D drawings to establish dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Using a range of inspection and measuring equipment, including verniers, micrometers, height gauges and other precision measuring tools.
  • Identifying dimensional, manufacturing or quality issues and working with production to resolve them.
  • Supporting effective communication and handover between Quality and Production.
  • Completing inspection records, quality documentation and relevant reports.
  • Supporting the management and documentation of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Ensuring inspection and quality requirements are understood and followed.
  • Recognising potential quality issues through attention to detail and practical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Working alongside production colleagues to maintain and improve quality standards.
  • Managing your own workload, prioritising tasks and ensuring inspections and actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the QHSE Lead with quality-related activities, whilst taking ownership of day‑to‑day inspection and quality requirements.
About You

We are looking for someone who has gained their experience in a similar engineering, metalworking, fabrication or manufacturing environment.

You will ideally be someone who can look at a component, drawing or measurement and quickly identify when something isn't quite right. Practical experience and an understanding of how manufacturing processes affect quality are particularly important.

Essential
  • Proven experience in a quality inspection/engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering 2D drawings.
  • Practical experience using precision measuring equipment, including verniers, micrometers, height gauges etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to raise and discuss quality issues with production colleagues.
Desirable
  • Experience within engineering, metalwork, fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • IOSH safety training/qualification.
  • First Aid qualification or previous First Aid experience.
  • Experience completing NCR documentation and inspection reports.
  • Experience working within a formal QHSE/quality management system.
What We're Looking For

This role would suit someone who has already worked in a hands‑on engineering or manufacturing quality environment and understands that quality isn't simply about completing paperwork at the end of a process.

You should be able to understand the relationship between the engineering drawing, manufacturing process, finished product and customer requirements, and be confident identifying and challenging issues when required.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are self-sufficient, observant and practical, with the experience to recognise problems and take appropriate action rather than waiting to be directed.

You will report directly to the Site QHSE Lead, working within the quality function and alongside the wider production team.

Training & Development

We recognise that the right candidate may not have every qualification listed above. Training will be provided for the right person, including IOSH safety training and First Aid where required, subject to successful completion of the probationary period.

Working Hours & Benefits
  • £30,000 salary
  • Days-based role
  • Flexibility around start time when operationally necessary
  • 38.5 hours per week
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Two paid working breaks
  • 1:00pm finish on Fridays
  • 33 days annual leave, including bank holidays
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Opportunity to develop within an established engineering/manufacturing environment

If you have solid experience in engineering quality inspection, can confidently work from engineering drawings and use precision measuring equipment, and are looking for a role where your practical experience and judgement are valued, we would like to hear from you
